WORLD WIDE WEEK

Warren Ellis has this cool thing which he does once a year - collecting self-portraits of his Internet Legions and publishing them, to remind everyone that even on a chatroom, or as an anonymous poster, you are still having human to human interactions.

It's called the World Wide Week, and it finished last week. I was very honoured to be included here.

Ellis is a god among writers. If he's not dispensing wisdom about the creative arts and the grim, meathook future, he's helping people to hook up and exchange ideas and memes via his latest messageboard (currently the awesome Whitechapel). Last week he even hooked me up with about 30 new people on Twitter. I take a lot of inspiration from Warren - not only is he an incredible writer, he is a passionate and well-informed thinker who always looks towards the bleeding edge of technology and entertainment. He's the John Peel of comics, in many ways... at least that's how it feels to me.

ICARUS : MONOLOGUES.... FREE DOWNLOAD!

Icarus is a collaboration between the manifestly gigantic talents of producer Whys and rapper Fresh, with singer Tori assisting. Combining shoegaze and trip-hop influences with searingly insightful spoken word, their new album 'Monologues' is a barnstormer.

Epic in scale, produced with a widescreen soundscape that alternately flickers and blazes, this is a pre-apocalyptic masterpiece of Scottish hip-hop.

And they're giving it away free.

Download, listen, and hit them up at their MySpace to tell them how awesome it is.

Recommended for fans of Penpushers, Sileni, Kobra Audio Labs, and Chemical Poets.

LIVE @ NEVERZONE, EDINBURGH

NEVERZONE

Irresistible funk vibes collide with thermonuclear trip-hop while dub-step nestles
with circuit bent kids' toys....that'll be the NEVERZONE

UNDERLING
CHEMICAL POETS BIG BAND
THE LAUREL TREE
The Ark, 24th July
8.30pm £4

Yarah Bravo called them "the future of hip-hop" and UNDERLING are taking large
steps to fulfill that prophecy. They have played with DJ VADIM, AESOP ROCK, EL-P,
MIKE LADD and BELLERUCHE and their infectious live-groove funk dazzles underneath
LIFE SHOW's cheeeky grin MC'ing which puts him easily on a par with any of the
acts they have supported. They will be launching their album in Edinburgh on the
night so come dance away and let the good times roll....

The CHEMICAL POETS BIG BAND make trip-hop out of post-2012 wasteland meltdowns,
pitting three seasoned poetry slam champions with some of the finest electronic
musicians in the city. Featuring Texture (Double Helix), Tickle (Burning Bright),
Harlequinade (Sileni), GungWho (Sileni), Asthmatic Astronaut (Underling), Paul
Keene and mo-Seph (Kresch), this big band make the most psychedelic hip-hop
available...

Opener THE LAUREL TREE is a veteran of ska, classical piano and electro-acoustic
jiggery-pokery and casts a spell of wii remotes, plundered toys, keys, breaths and
sighs. Forget what VICE tells you is cool or what sub-post-genre is 'in', this is
the real deal....

Rounding the night off will be a very special dub-step set with some very special
guests who shall not be named. Because they're shy. Aaaaah, how cute.

All of these acts are known for exhilarating and exciting live shows and this
NEVERZONE looks to be utterly unmissable for anyone with an interest in live music
performance.

NEW ON WEAPONIZER: THE BUG, SF, FREE DOWNLOADS & MORE

It has been a busy month for Weaponizer, with new writers turning up every five minutes brandishing ever-more sick filth and depravity; plus we've been trying to analyse everything from apocalyptic hip-hop to John McCain. We've got new features on the site - you can now download and stream music and poetry from us, and you can watch live poetry performances on our Youtube page. We're bigger, we're badder, and we're still not making any money.

I'm peforming at Wickerman this year with the Chemical Poets. Come down to the poetry tent and say hello.

Throw your set in the air.
