CHANGE IS GOOD

Change is evolution. Change is unpredictable. Change is an infant stolen in the night, switched for a pixie. Change happens without you even noticing it – it is a smooth transition, not violent uproar. Nevertheless, change remakes everything. Nothing will ever be the same again. It isn’t even how you remember it being the first time, not any more. It doesn’t work like that: it has been reinvented and recast. Some people will tell you there are no more original ideas left. To these cynics we say: that’s because people keep changing them, making them new.

Change is coming to Weaponizer. In July 2009, we will be updating and re-launching the site, with an emphasis on improving both the quality and quantity of our content. There will be more fiction, more music, more regular blog posts, more multimedia. Exactly how this will all be transmitted to you, the Weaponeers, is a closely-guarded secret right now. But rest assured – change is coming, and change is good. You might not see us again for a few months, but when you do, we will be… different.

This month, we bid goodbye to one of our blogs, and one of our columnists. The Get-Fucked Gallery, curated by the lovely Squith, is sadly no more, although Squith has many interesting projects up her sleeves, and many more fine pieces of fiction to share with us in the future. Similarly, the once-popular, now-neglected Jesus Christs Internet Digest column is looking a bit old and tattered – we’ll be taking it down by July, and replacing it with something else. Also, please note the change of title to one of our regular columns: Elle’s Bells will now be known by the author’s name – Elle Matheuse – a more dignified title, we think, for a column which has become an essential part of the Weaponizer mission.

This month’s fiction playlist is also a feast of change: an assault on the senses. A departure from the linear, the sensible and the real. We have not one, but four new writers to welcome aboard: the prolific and surreal Dan Black, the inimitable Harlequinade, from Sileni / Chemical Poets, plus the very talented Messrs John R. Platt and Douglas Gordon.

Thanks for reading. We'll be bringing you treats, downloads, RSS Feeds and many other tasty treats when we relaunch.

See you on the other side.
